Microsoft is about to launch Recall for real this time

Microsoft has begun gradually rolling out a preview of Recall, a feature designed to take snapshots of user activity on Copilot Plus PCs to make it easier to revisit previous tasks. This release is currently available to Windows Insiders, according to a blog post published Thursday.

This move suggests that Microsoft is finally moving closer to a full launch of Recall. Initially, the company planned to introduce the feature alongside Copilot Plus PCs back in June. However, the rollout was postponed due to security and privacy concerns. A second attempt was scheduled for October but was once again delayed so Microsoft could develop a more secure and trusted experience.

In November, Microsoft provided a preview of Recall to Windows Insiders through the Dev Channel, specifically for Qualcomm Copilot Plus PCs. Shortly after, the preview was extended to include Intel and AMD-powered Copilot Plus devices. Following several weeks of testing, tech writer Tom Warren described Recall as “creepy, clever, and compelling.”

In its latest blog post, Microsoft clarified that users must opt in to enable Recall’s screenshot-saving feature. Additionally, users retain full control—they can pause or stop the saving process at any time.
